MTA Metro-North Railroad today is reminding New Yorkers that its 11th annual blood drive with the New York Blood Center (NYBC) is underway at Grand Central Terminal. The blood drive is being held in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal until 6:00 p.m. today.

MTA Metro-North Railroad has been a long-time partner of NYBC, and its sponsorship over the years has generated a total of 2,757 donations which have saved the lives of up to 8,271 area patients. After testing, each blood donation can save up to three lives.

The MTA invites its employees, commuters and the public at large to give the gift of life by donating blood to ensure the region’s blood supply levels stay on track through the spring. All presenting donors at this blood drive will receive a voucher for a pair of NY Mets tickets. Blood donors can give every 56 days, and platelet donors can give twice per month. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently lifted eligibility restrictions for individuals who lived in Europe during certain periods of time. To view current eligibility guidelines, visit nybc.org or call 800.688.0900.
