MTA LIRR to Host Wantagh Station Groundbreaking

$23.9 Million Station Modernization Project Gets Underway Today at 11 a.m.

MTA Long Island Rail Road President Patrick A. Nowakowski will preside over groundbreaking ceremonies at 11 a.m. marking the official start of construction for the $23.9 million modernization of Wantagh Station, a project made possible by the State of New York’s support for the MTA Capital Program, as well as a $4 million contribution from Nassau County. Nowakowski will be joined by State Senator Michael Venditto, Assemblyman David McDonough, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, Nassau County Legislator Steve Rhoads Wantagh Chamber of Commerce President Chris Brown, Barney Fortunato Jr. of L.I. based Fortunato Sons Contracting, Inc., the primary contractor on a two-year project that is expected to create approximately 100 construction industry jobs.
