DEC to Recognize Innovative New York Businesses and Organizations Sustaining State's Environment and Strengthening Economy

Registration Required for Annual Environmental Excellence Awards Ceremony

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will recognize businesses and organizations for their innovative programs and commitment to environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and economic viability at the 13th Annual Environmental Excellence Awards. The awards ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, at Union College at College Park Hall in Schenectady.

This year’s recipients of DEC’s Environmental Excellent Awards include a major league sports team reducing its environmental footprint and engaging fans in environmental stewardship, an Adirondack outdoor recreation organization protecting and rehabilitating the fragile alpine ecosystem of New York’s highest peaks, a Finger Lakes Region not-for-profit transforming waste into opportunities by diverting reusable materials from landfills, and a central New York university medical center implementing innovative programs in a clinical setting.

The awards ceremony is open to the public, but space is limited. Those wishing to attend must pre-register.

Since 2004, DEC’s Environmental Excellence Awards have honored 72 businesses, schools, municipalities, governments, and organizations achieving outstanding environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and economic viability.
