New York and New Jersey Lotteries Launch New CASH4LIFE Game Offering $1,000 A Day For Life Top Prize

Second prize will be $1,000 A Week For Life; additional cash prizes from $2 to $2,500

NEW YORK, NY - The New York and New Jersey Lotteries today officially announced the launch of Cash4Life, a first-of-its-kind draw game designed to give players on both sides of the Hudson a chance to win not one but two prizes of a lifetime. First prize in the exclusive multistate game will be $1,000 a day for life. Second prize will be $1,000 a week for life.

Tickets for the first-ever Cash4Life drawing will go on sale Friday, June 13. The inaugural draw will take place at approximately 9 p.m. on Monday, June 16.

The Cash4Life game is an exclusive multistate draw game offering players in New York and New Jersey two chances for lifetime prizes with the purchase of a single $2 ticket. The drawings, to be held on Mondays and Thursdays, will originate from New Jersey’s drawing studio in Lawrenceville. Players may view a live stream of the drawing by clicking a link on the Cash4Life page of the New York Lottery website (nylottery.org).

Acting New York Lottery Director Gardner Gurney said “Cash4Life reflects the history and synergy between New York and New Jersey and celebrates the millions of commuters who crisscross our respective borders every day to work, play and buy Lottery tickets for a chance to enhance their lives. This game appeals to those players with not one but two “for life” prizes, a generous prize structure, and great overall odds of 1:8.”

New Jersey Lottery Executive Director Carole Hedinger said, “The Cash4Life game takes the popular Win for Life instant ticket theme to a whole new level as a draw-based game. It provides the public with two chances of winning a significant For Life prize. New Jersey was seeking a unique game concept that provided players with the opportunity to live the dream of long-term financial security.  I believe we’ve achieved that goal with Cash4Life and then surpassed it by offering two jackpots per draw that meet the criteria. As with all of our games, the goal is to generate optimum funding for Lottery beneficiaries. Cash4Life will provide another opportunity to bolster our contribution.”

Like other multistate draw games available in New York and New Jersey, Cash4Life is a double matrix game requiring players to select numbers from two separate fields of numbers using a play card or by requesting a Quick Pick. Cash4Life players will select five numbers from a field of sixty and a sixth number – the Cash Ball – from a separate field of four. Each game will cost $2.

Players who match all six numbers drawn will win or share $1,000 a day for life and will be guaranteed that minimum payout for 20 years.  Players who match only the first five numbers will win or share $1,000 a week for life and will be guaranteed to receive that minimum payout for 20 years. Like all For Life games, the Cash4Life game will continue to pay its first and second prize winners for life, making it the only draw game available in New York and New Jersey to offer first and second prizes that expire when you do.

Cash4Life will also feature seven additional prizes levels ranging from $2 to $2,500. All prizes may be reduced if total payouts at a particular prize level exceed predetermined liability levels.  Additional information on the liability cap is available in the official game rules. Odds of winning the $1,000 a day for life prize are 1:21.8 million. The odds for winning the $1,000 a week for life prize are about 1:7.3 million. Overall odds are 1:8.

All sales and related profits derived from the Cash4Life game will remain in the state where the ticket was purchased. Likewise, all prizes must be cashed in the state where the ticket was sold.

About the New York Lottery

The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing $3.17 billion in fiscal year 2013-2014 to help support education in New York State.  The Lottery’s contribution represents 15 percent of total state education aid to local school districts.

New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education.  It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.
