(Trumansburg, NY, May 27, 2016)   The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (State Parks) announced today the Gorge Trail at Taughannock Falls State Park is temporarily closed.  This closure is the result of the need to perform additional scaling and maintenance on sections of The Gorge Trail. The North Rim Trail and the South Rim Trail in the park will remain open.

Visitors interested in experiencing gorges and waterfalls can visit any of the other five gorge and waterfall parks in the Finger Lakes Region; Robert H. Treman State Park, Buttermilk Falls State Park, Fillmore Glen State Park, Stony Brook State Park and Watkins Glen State Park.  Currently all trails in these parks are open.

The closure will remain in effect until further notice. Park visitors are reminded to obey signage to ensure the safest and most enjoyable recreational experiences for all visitors. Updates can be obtained by visiting NYSParks.com or by calling Taughannock Falls State Park at 607-387-6739.
