DEC TO ANNOUNCE GRANTS FOR LAND TRUSTS TO BOOST TOURISM, PROTECT FARMLAND AND INCREASE RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES ACROSS THE STATE

New York State’s weeklong celebration of Earth Week continues Wednesday, April 26 with an announcement in Garrison by DEC Executive Deputy Commissioner Ken Lynch heralding Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Conservation Partnership Program grants for 58 nonprofit land trusts across the State. Representatives of the DEC and the Land Trust Alliance will unveil the grantees at Winter Hill, Hudson Highlands Land Trust in Putnam County as part of Earth Week, a weeklong celebration of New York's commitment and accomplishments to protecting our environment, conserving open space and increasing access to the state's vast and magnificent natural resources.

Photo opportunity: Following announcement there will be a photo op site visit (directly adjacent to event site) at North Redoubt Preserve: Includes an optional 45-minute hike to historically important promontory with expansive scenic views overlooking Hudson River, West Point, the Hudson Highlands and surrounding peaks.
