Ironworkers Recruit Apprentices |

Wallkill, NY (September 6, 2013) -- The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental & Reinforcing Iron Workers, Local Union #17-Newburgh, will conduct a recruitment from September 13, 2013 through September 12, 2014 for 10 ironworker (outside) apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Peter M Rivera announced today. Applications will be available at Local Union #417, 583 Route 32, Wallkill, NY from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. Applications must be completed in person. Applicants must provide the following documentation and information, once accepted into the program: birth certificate, Social Security card, NYS driver's license, high school diploma or G.E.D, proof of permanent residence (which must be within jurisdiction as indicated below). Proof of reliable transportation and random drug testing is a mandatory part of this program. The Committee requires that applicants:

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities. |
