Patsy's Barber Shop Coming to the Empire State Plaza |
|
Ribbon-Cutting to be Held at Noon on May 30 Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner RoAnn Destito today announced that the second official location of Patsy’s Barber Shop, a popular, longtime Albany establishment, will soon open within the Empire State Plaza. “Patsy’s Barber Shop will make a wonderful addition to the Empire State Plaza, and we are thrilled with the work they have done transforming their new space with all the trappings of a classic barber shop,” Commissioner Destito said. “Our efforts to bring businesses to the plaza have truly paid off with what has become an impressive list of local and national businesses providing quality services, gifts, and food to the thousands of people who work and visit the Plaza every day.” “I consider Patsy’s new Empire State Plaza location to be a tribute to the legacy of Pasquale Pugliese who designed the original shop on Albany’s Howard Empire in the 1930s to stand the test of time,” said William Yager III, proprietor of Patsy’s Barber Shop. “Having grown up running around the Capitol and the Plaza’s concourse with a parent who worked for the state, it is amazing and a thrill for me to come full circle and be able to put my mark on the concourse. I’ve also been so happy to work with the team at OGS who has helped make the opening of our official second location so easy.” The shop will offer haircuts and hot towel, straight razor shaves. It will also sell hair and body products, including Patsy’s Barber Shop’s house-made Bay Rum Aftershave. Patsy’s Barber Shop will be located next to The Egg box office and be open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. A ribbon-cutting event will be held at noon, on Wednesday, May 30.
