MTA Has Special Service Plans for Memorial Day WeekendLIRR, Metro-North and Staten Island Railway to Provide Early Getaway Trains Tomorrow, Friday, May 26

Memorial Day is coming on Monday, May 29, which means the MTA will add extra trains tomorrow, Friday, May 26, to help New Yorkers get an early start on the long three-day weekend. Service details are below.
Long Island Rail Road
The Long Island Rail Road is adding 10 extra afternoon trains from Penn Station. The LIRR will operate on a holiday schedule on Memorial Day.

Metro-North Railroad
Metro-North will provide 17 extra “getaway” departures from Grand Central Terminal tomorrow between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., and one extra departure from Hoboken Terminal on Metro-North’s Port Jervis Line. On Memorial Day, a Sunday schedule will be in effect.

Staten Island Railway
MTA Staten Island Railway will operate its Early Departure Get Away schedule on Friday, May 26. This schedule means extra SIR trains will be added earlier in the afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m. from the St. George Ferry Terminal. There will be one express train and one local train awaiting every boat until 7:50 p.m. The Early Departure Get Away service plan on SIR is also available on, Labor Day weekend, Christmas and New Year’s. It will also operate on the day before Thanksgiving.

New York City Subways and Buses
New York City Transit subways and buses will operate on a Sunday schedule. Customers are reminded to use the instead of the . Express service is not available on the and .
