LT. GOVERNOR KATHY HOCHUL ANNOUNCES $40.2 MILLION FEDERAL GRANT FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND EDUCATION

Grant Will Fund Initiatives Designed to Promote Healthy Children and Improve Academic Outcomes in Rochester and Throughout New York State

What:              New York State Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul and U.S. Rep. Joe Morrelle announce federal grant being awarded to the New York State Council on       

                        Children and Families

                        777 Clifford Avenue, Rochester

 

Please join Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul, Rep. Joe Morelle, New York State Office of Children and Family Services Commissioner Sheila J. Poole, New York State Council on Children and Families Executive Director Renée Rider, and New York State Regent Wade Norwood as they announce a federal grant to transform early childhood care and education.

The grant will fund initiatives in Rochester and throughout the state that are designed to:

  • Engage parents and caregivers and inform them about early childhood education and strategies that promote positive parenting that lead to improved health and well-being of children
  • Apply high-quality standards and measurements across early childhood settings
  • Foster partnerships among key stakeholders to identify and connect to needed services and supports for vulnerable children to bolster their success
  • Support successful transitions during the young years from pre-kindergarten to kindergarten and from Early Intervention to Special Education

The grant will build upon the state’s successes in expanding and improving early child care and education so that all children are healthy, learning and thriving. Families will have access to the full complement of resources that are essential for their children’s successful development.
