State Buildings and Landmarks Lit Purple and Teal for Suicide Prevention Day

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and today, September 10, is World Suicide Prevention Day.  Governor Hochul yesterday announced that state bridges and landmarks would be lit in purple and teal - the colors of suicide prevention – on September 9 and tonight, September 10, to mark Suicide Prevention Month and Day in New York State.

The following New York State Landmarks and Bridges will again be illuminated in purple and teal tonight for Suicide Prevention Day:

  • Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge

  • Carl McCall SUNY Administration Building   
  • State Education Building   
  • Alfred E. Smith State Office Building 
  • Empire State Plaze   
  • State Fairgrounds, Main Gate and Expo Center 
  • Niagara Falls  
  • The Franklin D. Roosevelt Mid-Hudson Bridge   
  • Grand Central Station - Pershing Square Viaduct   
  • Albany International Airport Gateway   
  • MTA LIRR - East End Gateway at Penn Station 
  • Fairport Lift Bridge over the Erie Canal
