Queens Midtown Tunnel Manhattan Exit Plaza Closure of “Crosstown” Lanes for Two Months: Starts July 15, 2016

Starting on the night of Friday, July 15, 2016, and for approximately two months, the two “Crosstown” exit lanes at the Manhattan plaza of the Queens Midtown Tunnel will be closed for the second of several stages of exit plaza roadway rehabilitation.

Customers seeking a Crosstown Manhattan route should use the two open (newly resurfaced) Uptown lanes; the two Downtown exit lanes will also remain open during this period.

The work includes asphalt replacement, rehabilitation of pavement joints and concrete repairs. Demolition work will take place behind barriers during daytime hours and will comply with the New York City noise code.  Rehabilitation of the two Downtown plaza lanes will comprise the final stages of the work. There are six lanes in the Manhattan exit plaza of the tunnel.

Drivers should expect some delays and plan accordingly.

Motorists can sign up for MTA e-mail or text alerts at www.mta.info and check the Bridges and Tunnels homepage or Facebook page for the latest information on this planned work.
