LIRR Customers Should Anticipate Delays & Cancellations During PM Rush Due to Signal Trouble at Penn Station

MTA Long Island Rail Road customers should anticipate delays and cancellations during this evening's PM rush due to signal trouble at Penn Station. Train cancellations are being announced at Penn and customers may also go to www.mta.info/lirr for details of what trains are scheduled to be canceled.

The signal problem, which is preventing the LIRR from using three tracks for eastbound service, is under repair by Amtrak, which is responsible for maintenance at Penn Station and the East River Tunnels.

In order to meet the demand for eastbound service using fewer tracks, the LIRR is canceling some trains and combining them with the next scheduled departure. That will prevent crowding at Penn Station, but result in more crowded trains. The Railroad apologizes for this inconvenience.
