Sheet Metal Workers Recruit Apprentices |

Buffalo, NY (September 2, 2015) - The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Sheet Metal Workers, Local Union #71, will conduct a recruitment from September 3, 2015 through August 25, 2016 for 20 sheet metal worker apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today. Please note that the 20 openings listed for apprentices represent the total number for two recruitment regions - the Finger Lakes and Western regions of New York. This program’s jurisdiction includes the counties of Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, and Wyoming. Applications will be available at Local Union #71, 24 Liberty Avenue, Buffalo, NY, each Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (with the exception of the third Thursday of each month, when applications will be available from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.), excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities. |
