Elevator Constructors Recruit Apprentices |

Buffalo, NY (January 30, 2024) - The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local Union #14, will conduct a recruitment from February 26, 2024 through March 25, 2024 for one elevator-escalator constructor and modernizer apprentice, the New York State Department of Labor announced today. Applications will only be accepted online, anytime during the recruitment period, at www.neieprecruitment.org and clicking the link for Local 14 (Buffalo/NY) recruitment. If there are any problems with the application process, the Local coordinator can be contacted at jhandibode@neiep.org. Applicants who do not have access to a computer may visit their local library or NYS Department of Labor Career Center. Applicants must take and score a minimum of 70 on the Elevator Industry Aptitude Test (reading, math skills, and aptitude for employment in the elevator industry). A testing fee of $25 must be paid at the time of testing. The payment must be in the form of a postal money order or bank certified check (no cash or personal checks will be accepted). Please note, you may request that this fee be waived. Fee waivers will be approved upon showing verifiable proof of financial need. A photo ID will be required on the day of testing (during the application process). Must take a tool assessment designed to assess knowledge of basic tools and their use, as well as basic measuring skills. Scores are part of the evaluation. Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities. |
