LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- Some of the biggest names in Bluegrass will join some of its rising stars, performing on two stages during the inaugural Lake Placid Bluegrass Jam, Saturday, Oct. 25, in the 1932 Rink of Lake Placid’s Olympic Center.

Headlined by Grammy award winners Sam Bush and the Del McCoury Band, 10 bands, ranging from the traditional Bluegrass sound to the Newgrass style, will perform from 12:30-11 p.m.   Doors open at noon and General admission into the festival is $55 in advance and $65 at the door.

Tickets can also be purchased for just $50, $5 off General admission, during Saturday and Sunday’s, Oct. 11-12, Flaming Leaves Festival, being held at the Olympic Jumping Complex, and during Saturday’s Brewfest held at the Olympic Center. And if people purchase tickets before Friday, Oct. 17, they will be eligible to win a ticket upgrade and/ or a Bluegrass Jam prize package.

VIP admission, limited to just 300 people, is $80 in advance and $90 at the door.  VIP’s will receive a special viewing area, VIP only bar, t-shirt, limited edition poster and complementary water and sports drinks. About the Bands:

Sam Bush, Grass Stage, from 8:30-10 p.m.

Sam Bush, a bluegrass mandolin player, is considered an originator of the Newgrass style. He has taken home Grammys for Album of the Year, Best Country Performance by a Duo and Best Pop Instrumental Performance. The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) has named Sam Bush Mandolin Player of the Year four times in 1990, 1991, 1992, and 2007.  

The Del McCoury Band, Blue Stage, from 7-8:30 p.m.

At 75 years old, Delano Floyd McCoury is an American bluegrass musician. As leader of the Del McCoury Band, he plays guitar and sings lead vocals along with his two sons, Ronnie McCoury and Rob McCoury, who play mandolin and banjo, respectively. In 2004 they were nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album for It's Just the Night, and in 2006 they won that category for The Company We Keep.

Amy Helm, Grass Stage, 6-7 p.m.

Amy is the daughter of music legend Levon Helm and singer/songwriter Libby Titus Fagen and is set to release her first album in 2015. Her lengthy resume is highlighted by many years of singing and playing alongside her father, with whom she conceived, launched and perfected the Midnight Rambles.

Sleepy Man Banjo Boys, Blue Stage, 5-6 p.m.

This trio is amongst the quickest rising stars in Bluegrass music; as their YouTube videos have been seem by more than 20-million viewers. The band’s first two albums charted in the top-10. The debut album America’s Music charted at number eight, while the Farthest Horizon came in at number three. They’re third album, By My Side, came out this past June.

Gibson Brothers Band, Grass Stage, 4-5 p.m.

Originally from Ellenburgh Depot, N.Y. (near Plattsburgh, N.Y.), the Gibson Brothers, Eric and Leigh, were voted 2013 Entertainers of the Year at the IBMA World of Bluegrass 24th Annual Awards Show in Raleigh, N.C. for the second year in a row. Help My Brother, their 10^th album, won the prestigious 2011 IBMA Album of the Year Award.

Eastbound Jesus, Grass Stage, 1-1:45 p.m.

From Greenwich, N.Y., Eastbound Jesus is a six piece acoustic/electric band. Together since 2010 they have already released three albums.  The band has shared the stage with a variety of regionally and nationally acclaimed acts to include The Felice Brothers, Moe., North Mississippi All-Stars, the Mallett Brothers and more.

Big Leg Emma, Grass Stage, 2:30-3:15 p.m.

This band’s music is based on traditional folk, bluegrass and country. The band has shared the stage with Rusted Root, Donna the Buffalo, Little Feat, Del McCoury, 10,000 Maniacs, Max Creek and Hot Tuna to name a few.

Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers, Blue Stage, 1:45-12:30 p.m.

Mixing Bluegrass and Gospel music, Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers were named IBMA’s “Emerging Artists of the Year in 2012. Their album, Bottom of the Mountain, was the number one selling album in December 2012 and it was also the most played Bluegrass album on satellite radio from December 2012 to March 2013.

Hot Day at the Zoo, Blue Stage, 3:15-4 p.m.

An all-string and no drum band, they mix folk, blues, ragtime and jazz with progressive bluegrass and Americana-infused rock and roll.

52 Pick-up, Blue Stage, 12:30-1 p.m.

From Lake Placid, this new band features an Adirondack High and Lonesome style.
