Laborers Recruit Apprentices |

Long Island City, NY (July 3, 2018) - The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Construction and General Building Laborers, Local Union #79, will conduct a limited recruitment from August 3, 2018 through August 16, 2018 for 200 skilled construction craft laborer apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today. The recruitment for Local Union #79 will be offered online from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. every business day during the recruitment period. The recruitment will be offered for 10 business days or until 2,000 applicants are reached, whichever comes first. Applicants who do not have Internet access may visit their local library or call 311 and ask for the nearest New York State Department of Labor Career Center. The Committee requires that applicants:

Street, Long Island City, NY, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., excluding legal holidays. The days to return application are August 6,7,8,9,10,13,14,15,16,17,20,21,22,23,24,27,28,29,30 and 31. All applications must be received no later than August 31, 2018. NOTE: On August 31, hours to drop application will only be 9 A.M. through 10 A.M.
Please understand that more applicants will apply than we can fit in our pool of candidates. You may not get through this time. However, we hope that work is plentiful and we can hold another recruitment in a few months’ time. Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities. |
