Disability Rights Employment Awareness Month Exhibit Now on Display in the NYS Capitol

What:

This free exhibition honors the rich history, challenges, and accomplishments of the disability rights movement at large, without which people with disabilities in New York State would not have the protections, services, and supports to succeed in the workforce.

Coinciding with National Disability Employment Awareness Month, a national movement that celebrates and promotes hiring people with disabilities, this exhibit demonstrates how people with disabilities are an integral part of any inclusive and diverse workforce.

The exhibition features images and stories of New Yorkers who fought and continue to fight for rights, including the display of a wheelchair used by Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the Executive Mansion during his tenure as Governor.

More information about the exhibit is available online here.

Where:

The Governor’s Reception Room (War Room) on the New York State Capitol’s second floor.

When:

The exhibit is on view Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and runs through Friday, November 4. The exhibit will not be open on Monday, October 10.
