Event: Top officials from the New York State Tax Department will meet with representatives from local non-profit, community and government groups at the first-ever North Country Community Outreach Tax Summit.

 

The event – sponsored by the United Way of Northern New York – aims to help community leaders better understand the growing list of services that benefit low to moderate-income and under-served taxpayers – so these leaders, in turn, can help their constituents solve tax problems and save money. Among the topics to be addressed are:

 

  • free tax preparation services
  • free tax advocacy
  • valuable tax credits
  • consumer protection when hiring a tax preparer
