Electricians Recruit Apprentices

Pearl River, NY (March 14, 2014) -- The USIS Electric, Inc., will conduct a recruitment from March 24, 2014 through March 24, 2015 for 16 electrician apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera announced today.

Applications will be available at the USIS Electric, Inc., 35 West Jefferson Avenue, Pearl River, NY, on Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. Application must be received no later than March 24, 2015.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, including one year of algebra or high school regents math with a passing grade.
  • Must have reliable transportation for work and attending related instruction training.
  • Must be physically able to perform the work required, including the following:
    • Ability to pull cable
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to carry 25 lbs.
    • Ability to climb ladders
    • Ability to work or stand 90% of the time and sit approximately 10% of the time

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status.  Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs.  Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
