BATTERY PARK CITY, NY - “Who hasn’t dreamed of being the recipient of a big check from the New York Lottery? We thought this would be a really fun way to help people visualize just how enormous a $34,000,000 jackpot really is and pay tribute to the staying power of New York’s original and only in-state jackpot game,” said Acting New York Lottery Director Gardner Gurney.
New York’s LOTTO game made its debut on November 11, 1978 with a jackpot of $250,000. The popular “Pick 6” type draw game remains New York’s only in-state jackpot game and a generous contributor to public K-12 education statewide. The record for a LOTTO drawing was set in 2009 for a jackpot of $41,000,000.
Twelve members of the New York Lottery’s #bigcheck squad will be showcasing the 34-foot long LOTTO prize check, created by McCann New York, in advance of Wednesday night’s drawing.
