Metro-North Crews Continue Infrastructure Improvements to Port Jervis Line Friday Night, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6-8Substitute Bus Service Between Port Jervis and Harriman in Effect This Weekend

MTA Metro-North Railroad advises customers that crews will be out on the Port Jervis Line this weekend, Dec. 6-8, to continue work installing a new cab signal system between Otisville and Division Post at Port Jervis, which is the latest phase in the complete upgrade of the signal system.
This new cab signal system needs to be in place to support Positive Train Control operations on the Port Jervis Line. Positive Train Control is a technology designed to reduce the potential for human error that can lead to train-involved accidents.
Customers should also be aware that NJ Transit has advised Metro-North of a schedule adjustment effective Sunday, Dec. 8, which will result in minor changes to the timings of several Port Jervis Line trains. There are no changes to Pascack Valley Line trains.
The schedule adjustments are the result of the cab-signal installation work and reflect the revised operating conditions and will provide more reliable service for our customers.
For both Inbound/ Eastbound service to New York - Penn Station, and Outbound/ Westbound service to Port Jervis, some trains will depart stations between 7 minutes earlier, and 10 minutes later, and have their schedules lengthened by between 3 and 7 minutes.
To accommodate this weekend’s work, buses will substitute for trains between Port Jervis and Harriman from 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, and continuing until 9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8. Trains will operate on normal schedules between Harriman and Hoboken.
Service details are below:
