DEC to Make Major Announcement on Spruce Mountain

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) invites the media to attend a major announcement regarding Spruce Mountain.   

Who: DEC Regional Director Bob Stegemann, representatives from the Adirondack Mountain Club, Saratoga PLAN, Student Conservation Association, Lyme Adirondack Timberlands II, and State and local elected officials.

When: Time 2:00 p.m., Today, October 7

Where: Base of Spruce Mountain Fire Tower, Town of Corinth, Saratoga County.  Group will meet at the Spruce Mountain Trailhead parking area (http://www.google.com/maps?daddr=43.201,- 73.8956) at 1:30 p.m. to carpool to the fire tower – high clearance, 4 wheel drive vehicles are necessary.  Shuttle service will also be available. 

Directions: The trailhead parking area is located at the end of Fire Tower Rd in Corinth.  From Corinth, take 9N south for approximately three miles, take a right onto Wells Rd and proceed for two miles. At the “T” take a right onto Fire Tower Rd.  Parking area is up the road about 300 yards where the road dead ends. 

Note: This will be an outside event rain or shine, dress appropriately.
