Railroad Working as an Economic Driver for Hudson Valley’s Reopening Many of the Over 100-Plus Participating Hudson Valley Restaurants are Within Walking Distance of Metro-North Stations View Photos from News Conference MTA Metro-North Railroad is inviting diners to hop on the train and enjoy Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, starting May 10. As the Hudson Valley continues its economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, Metro-North and the 100-plus businesses located along the railroad’s three East of Hudson lines and throughout the Hudson Valley want to give New Yorkers easy access to some of the best restaurants the region has to offer. Many participating businesses are a short walk from a Metro-North station, or in some cases at a Metro-North station. Over the next several weeks, the MTA will be highlighting events and destinations easily accessible by taking public transportation and will be honoring ‘Comeback Heroes’ from neighborhoods throughout its regional rail, subway and bus network in the weeks ahead for creating unique spaces that help a resurgent New York City and State and providing another reason for riders to return to the MTA system. “This year’s edition of Restaurant Week has added significance and can help serve as a celebration of the hard work we all put in to get to the other side of this pandemic,” said Patrick Foye, MTA Chairman and CEO. “As ridership recovers and New York begins its return to normalcy, Metro-North will continue to be the best way to move around the Hudson Valley.” “Metro-North is so excited to once again showcase the Hudson Valley’s premier culinary destinations,” said Catherine Rinaldi, President of Metro-North Railroad. “We hope to welcome more and more of our customers back, and remind them that Metro-North is more than a commuter railroad, but the best way to experience all the Hudson Valley has to offer.” Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “Westchester’s restaurant scene has been pulling in big awards of late and is a major contributor to our economy and our quality of life. Hudson Valley Restaurant Week is a great opportunity for residents and visitors alike to discover our chefs, explore new flavors, and support the County’s incredible restaurateurs. Our ongoing partnership with Metro-North Railroad makes it convenient for visitors to enjoy a great meal.” Westchester County Tourism Executive Director Natasha Caputo said at today’s news conference: “As the warm weather starts, Westchester County is your destination for an easy getaway on the Metro-North. We've talked about our culinary scenery, which is spectacular, but our beautiful scenery and our vistas are also spectacular. So, Hudson Valley Restaurant Week here in Westchester is your time to not only dine out, but enjoy all of that in a safe way.” Mike Martinelli, Publisher, Today Media/Valley Table Magazine said: "We’re so excited to partner with MTA Metro-North for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. It’s a great example of how organizations can come together to promote the Hudson Valley as a culinary destination and deliver in and out of market customers to a restaurant industry ready for a refreshing jolt of renewed business." Metro-North Railroad continues with the most aggressive cleaning regimen in the agency’s history. Wearing masks is still required on all trains and at stations, train crews can provide masks to any customer who needs one. Hudson Valley Restaurant Week The Hudson Valley has grown into New York’s premier culinary destination. Hudson Valley Restaurant Week offers three-course prix-fixe lunches at $25.95 and dinners at $35.95. Many chefs’ menus include original dishes using the best fresh produce, cheeses and meats, many locally-grown in the Hudson Valley. Hudson Valley Restaurant Week runs from May 10-23, and many of the over 100-plus participating restaurants are within walking distance or a quick cab ride from Metro-North stations.
