HARLEM, N.Y. – The New York Lottery will present a $2,500 prize check to officials and members of the Frederick Douglass Academy Vocal Ensemble of Harlem in recognition of the group’s third-place finish in the New York Sings Facebook contest. The social media promotion drew more than 240 entries from public schools statewide.
The event will include a performance by the school’s renowned Vocal Ensemble of Harlem whose social media rendition of the 70’s hit song “Thank You For Being A Friend” made it a fan favorite in the New York Lottery’s social media contest devoted to building awareness of the Lottery’s mission to raise revenue for public K – 12 education.
