DEC ANNOUNCES OCT. 1 ROAD CLOSURE TO ALLOW FOR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT IN ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY

Four-Week Closure of C.C. Dam Public Forest Access Road, Town of Brasher

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced the Oct. 1 closure of the C.C. Dam Public Forest Access Road in the town of Brasher to allow for a bridge replacement project over Redwater Brook on Brasher State Forest, St. Lawrence County. The four-week bridge replacement project involves removing existing culverts and replacing them with a new engineered bridge.

Beginning Oct. 1, the C.C. Dam Public Forest Access Road, used to access Walter Pratt Memorial Park, as well as other portions of Brasher State Forest from County Route 55 will be closed to the public for four weeks.

The closure includes a prohibition on day-use or overnight camping at Walter Pratt Memorial Park and motorized or non-motorized access to the construction site. For additional information and questions, contact Henry Dedrick, Supervising Forester at DEC’s Potsdam office, at 315-265-3090.
