DEC PARTNERS WITH PENNSYLVANIA FISH AND BOAT COMMISSION TO PRESENT NEW TROUT MANAGEMENT PLAN WITHIN DELAWARE RIVER TRAILWATERSVirtual Meeting Scheduled Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. |
|
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will hold a virtual public information session on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. to inform New Yorkers about the new Delaware River Tailwaters Joint Trout Management Plan. The Delaware River Tailwaters support a nationally renowned sport fishery for wild trout and the protection and enhancement of this premier fishery remains a top priority for both DEC and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. The Joint Trout Management Plan, designed in partnership with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, will guide both agencies in the strategic and science-based management of trout in the East and West branches of the Delaware River, including from the village of Hancock in Delaware County, downriver to the town of Callicoon in Sullivan County. To view the plan prior to the information session, visit the DEC website. During the meeting, DEC fisheries managers will outline the major tenets of the joint management plan, which include balancing the need to manage and restore natural populations while also providing additional recreational opportunities. Those interested in participating in the virtual session can register here: https://meetny-gov.webex.com/weblink/register/rfabcab43fc16cdd9cc01e75a5a7c6548. Attendees will receive an invitation to join the webinar once registration is received. |
