STATE SURPLUS REAL ESTATE IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY AND THE BRONX SELL FOR $4.85 MILLION AT AUCTION

New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner RoAnn M. Destito today announced the sale of the former SUNY Purchase President’s house at public auction for $1.98 million to Ali Hayoudeh of New York City who plans to do a full restoration of the existing mansion. The 9,300-square-foot, single-family residence is located at 3031 Purchase Street in Harrison, Westchester County. The minimum bid for the property was $1.3 million, and there were four registered bidders at the auction, which was held at the Student Services Building on the SUNY Purchase College campus.

The sale of the surplus SUNY property follows the successful auction earlier this month of two multi-family, three-story residential buildings in the Bronx. The former New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services properties at 849 Crotona Park North and 1790 Marmion Avenue were auctioned independently for a combined total of nearly $2.9 million.

Auctioning un-needed and unused state-owned properties like these is a priority for Governor Cuomo,” Commissioner Destito said. “These sales mean New York taxpayers will no longer have to bear the expense of maintaining these buildings in Westchester County and the Bronx.”

An auction for the two Bronx properties was conducted on September 2 at the Justice Sonia Sotomayor Community Center in the Bronx. There were 31 registered bidders.

The minimum bid for the property located at 849 Crotona Park North was $380,000, and it sold for $1.06 million to The Greenburger Center for Social and Criminal Services, located in New York City and Spencertown, Columbia County.

For the property at 1790 Marmion Avenue, the minimum bid was also set at $380,000, and it sold for $1.81 million to high-bidder Yusef Rabinowitz of Brooklyn.

Neither of the high bidders disclosed their plans for the Bronx properties.

It is anticipated that a closing on the properties and transfer to the new owners will take place over the next several months.
