BUFFALO, N.Y. – What a way to start a holiday weekend! The New York Lottery today announced a top prize winning ticket for the May 22 TAKE 5 drawing was sold at the Tops Markets at 425 Niagara Street in Buffalo. The ticket is worth $33,892. So the winner will likely go back to Tops and get something more than hot dogs for the grill!

Another top prize winning ticket, also worth $33,892, was also sold in Schenectady, NY. That ticket was also sold at a grocery store. It seems that stocking up with groceries for the weekend can really pay off!

In addition to the two $33,892 top prizes for the May 22 TAKE 5 drawing, which was won by matching five out of five numbers, 266 players each purchased $382.00 winning tickets by matching four out of five numbers for the drawing.

The winning numbers for the May 22 TAKE 5 drawing were 05-11-12-28-29.

The Lottery encourages everyone who bought a New York Lottery draw game ticket, to check their tickets again, as they could be holding a winner. Tickets expire one year after the game’s drawing.

The winners may claim the ticket at any one of the Lottery’s Customer Service Centers statewide, including the Buffalo office at 165 Genesee Street, Buffalo, NY 14203. To learn more about how to redeem a prize, click here

About the New York Lottery

The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing $3.04 billion in fiscal year 2012-2013 to help support education in New York State.  The Lottery’s contribution represents 15 percent of total state education aid to local school districts.

New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education.  It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.
