Stanley Cup Trophy to Appear at Men’s Championship |

BY: ECAC Hockey Fans can view the Cup up close and take pictures of themselves with the National Hockey League (NHL®) Championship Trophy during both semifinal games at 4 and 7:30 p.m. The Stanley Cup will be on the main concourse, near section 19, of the Herb Brooks Arena- 1980 Rink. The oldest trophy in North American professional sports, the Stanley Cup trophy’s origins date to 1892 and it’s been awarded to the National Hockey League Playoffs Champion since 1926. Each player and the names of team personnel are engraved into the bands around the base of the trophy. Periodically, bands are retired to make room for new ones. The retired bands are displayed at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. ECAC Hockey Men’s Championship tickets are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased at the Olympic Center box office, by calling 518-523-3330 or through www.whitefacelakeplacid.com. The event marks the 55th overall championship and the 13th time at historic Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, which hosted the league’s marquee event from 1993-2002 and 2014-2015. The four top teams coming from the league’s quarterfinal tournament round will battle it out on the ice looking to capture the Whitelaw Cup and an automatic bid to the 69th annual NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey Tournament. Two semifinal games take place Friday, at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and the championship game is slated for Saturday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the ECAC Men’s Hockey Championship Tournament are on sale now. Single day tickets are $35 for adults and $30 for junior and seniors. All Tournament tickets are also available, $55 for adults and $45 for juniors and seniors.
