MTA Hosts “Poetry in Motion” Event at Grand Central Terminal on April 7

MTA Arts & Design and the Poetry Society of America are celebrating National Poetry Month with “Poetry in Motion,” a free and public event on Friday, April 7, at Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall. 

Renowned and award-winning poets will be stationed throughout Vanderbilt Hall at desks with typewriters and chairs for “The Poet is In,” where they will craft personalized poems for the traveling public. Musicians from MTA Arts & Design’s Music Under New York program will provide entertainment. Visitors also can view artwork by illustrator Johanna Goodman, who created a new poster for MTA Arts & Design titled “Subway Muses,” which pays tribute to women and the subway system in a portrait of four majestic women wearing a dazzling collage of contemporary and historical references.

WHO:        MTA Arts & Design, which presents the Poetry in Motion program and Music Under New York program to enhance the station environment and commuting experience; poets from the Poetry Society of America; performers from Music Under New York.

WHEN:      Friday, April 7, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

WHERE:     Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall, located north of the clock in the main concourse. (4567s to 42 St-Grand Central, Metro-North to Grand Central Terminal. A street entrance for Vanderbilt Hall is located at 42nd Street and Park Avenue at Pershing Square)
