On Wednesday, April 22, 2015, the Region 2 office of NYSDEC will help to mark the importance of Earth Day by caring for trees at the Mount Loretto Unique Area properties on Staten Island. On that day, the public is invited to join DEC staff in pruning, mulching, aerating and weeding work that will improve the health of hundreds of trees planted over the last several years.  While there, the public will also get a sneak peak at a nearly completed project that will improve site access and create new freshwater fishing opportunities.
