LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- The Lake Placid Olympic Museum’s Meet an Olympian program concluded today, Thursday, Aug. 3, when USA Luge Olympians Mark Grimmette, Gordy Sheer, Erin Hamlin, Chris Mazdzer and Jayson Terdiman spent some time talking about their sport, signing autographs and posing for pictures.

Grimmette, who is now USA Luge’s director of sport programs, is a two-time Olympic medalist in doubles luge. He won bronze in 1998 and silver in 2002. Sheer captured the silver medal in doubles luge during the 1998 Olympic Winter Games and is now the association’s marketing director.

Hamlin is USA Luge’s most successful women’s singles luge athlete. Four years ago, in Sochi, Russia, she became the first American singles luge athlete to win an Olympic podium when she captured the bronze medal.

Mazdzer is eying his third Olympics, while Terdiman has his sights set on his second.

Other athletes who participated in the Meet an Olympian program included alpine skiers Andrew Weibrecht and Cecily Decker, biathletes Tim Burke and Lowell Bailey and women’s ski jumper Tara Geraghty-Moats.
