The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP), serving as the lead agency for the State Environmental Quality Review Act, today released the Findings on the Final Generic Environmental Impact Statement (FGEIS) for the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail. Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail, Inc. proposes to build a 7.5-mile long publicly accessible linear park that is shared-use – pedestrian and bicycle (non-motorized). The linear park would run along the eastern shore of the Hudson River between the City of Beacon in Dutchess County to the north and the Village of Cold Spring in Putnam County to the south. The Fjord Trail would be partially within the Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve, which is owned and managed by OPRHP, and would extend through other public and private lands.
