Earth Day Celebration & Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony on Ridge Conservation Area Trail

As part of New York State’s weeklong celebration of Earth Day, please join New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Regional Director Peter A. Scully, elected officials and local school groups for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of a new interpretive trail at the DEC’s Ridge Conservation Area.

What:               DEC Regional Director Peter A. Scully, elected officials and local students will participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) accessible trailhead. A demonstration will also be made of the new QR code technology which brings up the interpretive trail information.  

 

Where:             Directions to Ridge Conservation Area: Rt. 495 (L.I.E.) exit 68, north on William Floyd Parkway (CR 46) to Rt. 25 west, 1/4 mile to right turn on Randall Road, entrance 300 feet on left side.

When:              Wednesday, April 22 at 11 a.m.                                

 

Followed by:    At the conclusion of the ribbon cutting ceremony attendees will be invited to walk a section of the trail. The trail winds its way through the 184-acre Ridge Conservation Area which features 14 interpretive posts describing forest, grassland and pond habitats.
