Wet ‘n Wild Returns to Lake Placid’s Olympic Jumping Complex Aug. 8

Nordic Skiing Legends Race for the Title of Fastest Man

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- Wet ‘n Wild returns to Lake Placid’s Olympic Jumping Complex, Wednesday, Aug. 8, with aerials, ski jumping and two special Nordic events; a 100 meter sprint and an agility course featuring Norway’s Ludvig Søgnen Jensen and American Andy Newell.

Wednesday’s show begins at 1 p.m. with an aerials display featuring freestyle and aerial athletes launching up to 40-feet into the air where they execute a series of spins, twists and flips before splashing down in the 750,000-gallon pool.

This is followed by ski jumping from the 90-meter tower, where many of the best ski jumpers in the east, riding skis longer than the skiers are tall, streak down the steep inrun and fly the length of a football field.

Finally, don’t miss out on the one-on-one 100 meter sprint race between Søgnen Jensen and Newell. Part of the 2018 NENSA Rollerski Race Series, this celebrity race features cross country skiing’s fastest skier on earth in Søgnen Jensen against Newell, a four-time Olympian and three-time World Cup medalist.

Throughout the event, visitors have a chance to win some great prizes, learn more about the sports of skiing jumping, freestyle and Nordic skiing and get autographs from the athletes.

Spectators can come early or stay late to ride the chairlift from the base lodge to the bottom of the 120-meter ski jump tower. From there, guests may take the enclosed elevator up 26-stories to the Sky Deck and experience a ski jumper's view of the Adirondack high peaks and surrounding area.

Admission to Wednesday’s event is $16 for adults and $9 for juniors and seniors. Wet ‘n Wild is included when purchasing an Olympic Sites Passport. Sold for $40 at the ORDA Store and all of our ticket offices, the Passport saves you time, money, and gets you into the venues at a good value.
