MTA Metro-North Railroad is welcoming back all commuters and visitors to Grand Central Terminal for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began. To celebrate, GCT invited students from The Juilliard School to perform live in the Terminal for the first time, on Tuesday, June 23. The students will perform classical repertoire on a Steinway from the famed Steinway NYC Concert & Artist bank of pianos for those passing through, eating, and shopping in the terminal to enjoy as they return to everyday life. The performances also complement the launch of GCT Tracks, Grand Central Terminal’s Spotify channel. The new, free channel includes four introductory playlists curated by Steinway & Sons, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater. The performances will also be live streamed on Grand Central’s Facebook and Instagram platforms for those who wish to tune in at home. WHEN: Tuesday, June 23 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. WHERE: Grand Central Terminal Main Concourse next to the central Information Booth WHO: Juilliard students Ron Losby, Steinway President & CEO (available until 9 a.m.) Catherine Rinaldi, Metro-North Railroad President (available from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.) CONTACT: MTA Media Relations, Amanda Valdes, (347) 443-0110 or avaldes@mtahq.org
