These weekend service changes are part of the MTA Subway Action Plan, the Enhanced Station Initiative in Queens and Manhattan and ongoing maintenance, repair and upgrade work throughout the MTA New York City Transit subway system.  These programs maintain and upgrade track, signal, station and other infrastructure in order to continue to provide MTA customers with safe and reliable service.  More information on the 2015-2019 Capital Program is available here.

This weekend, work crews will be dispersed throughout the entire subway system to perform a variety of critical tasks in the areas of track replacement and maintenance, signal modernization, station enhancements, electrical upgrades and communication improvements.  All of this work is aligned with the MTA Subway Action Plan, a comprehensive plan to stabilize and modernize the subway system by attacking the key drivers of 79 percent of delay-causing major incidents and strategically targeting additional personnel and equipment to focus on critical parts of the system.   

The Weekender is a digital guide to understanding planned service changes in effect for system maintenance and construction, and makes it easy for customers to visualize exactly how weekend work will affect subway service. The Weekender is accessible through the MTA website by clicking “The Weekender” tab within the Service Status Menu.

The Weekender is also available as a free app for iPhone and Android devices on the MTA website here.  This app shares the same features as the desktop version, including a subway diagram that displays the service to be provided each weekend, and all service changes.  Users can pinch or expand the map to multiple zoom levels, and tap to choose one of three ways to view service diversions: Service by Line, Service by Borough and Service by Station.

TripPlanner+ provides travel information that takes weekend service diversions into account.  In addition, customers can receive customized subway diversion emails by signing up here.  Customers who rely on these lines should allow for additional travel time.

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2,  trains are suspended in both directions between 96 St and E 180 St due to track replacement.  Take  trains and free shuttle buses.   trains will run between South Ferry and 96 St.  Free shuttle buses operate between 96 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.  Transfer between trains and shuttle buses at 96 St  and/or 149 St-Grand Concourse .  

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2,  service will be suspended in Brooklyn due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel.  This project is part of MTA’s ongoing efforts to fix assets damaged during Sandy, and include repairs and rehabilitation of tracks, signals, pump rooms, fire protection system, and power and communication cables.

•  trains will not run in Brooklyn.  service will be extended to New Lots Av to replace the .   service will be extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College to replace the .   and  trains will run local in Brooklyn.  Service will not be available at the Clark St and Hoyt St stations.  As an alternative, use the nearby Borough Hall and Nevins St .
•  trains will run between South Ferry and 96 St, making local stops between Chambers St and 34 St.
•  service is suspended. Take  and/or buses.  Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr or Times Sq , or free out of system transfer between Bowling Green  and South Ferry .   

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2,  trains replace weekend  service between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St.   trains replace weekend  service between Wakefield-241 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel.  Transfer between  shuttle and  trains at E 180 St and/or between  and shuttle buses at 149 St-Grand Concourse.   

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2,  service is suspended due to track replacement.  Take  trains and/free shuttle buses instead.  Free shuttle buses operate between Harlem-148 St and 96 St, making all local stops.  Transfer between  trains and shuttle buses at 96 St.    

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 31 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 1, Woodlawn-bound  trains skip, 161 St, 167 St, 170 St, Mt Eden Av, and 176 St due to track replacement.  Use a Manhattan-bound  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Burnside Av or 149 St-Grand Concourse. 

From 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 31, and from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 1,  service operates every 16 minutes between 125 St and Woodlawn due to track replacement.  The last stop for some trains headed toward Woodlawn will be 125 St.  Transfer to a Woodlawn-bound  at 125 St to continue your trip. 

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2, Woodlawn-bound  trains run local from Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall to 125 St, and New Lots Avenue-bound  trains run local from Grand Central-42 St to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall due to track replacement. 

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2,  service is extended to New Lots Av and service is extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel.   trains will run local in Brooklyn and make  station stops.  A free out-of-system transfer is available between Bowling Green 5 and South Ferry  stations.   

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2, downtown  trains run express from 125 St to Grand Central-42 St due to track replacement.  Use an uptown  local or  train to complete your trip. Transfer at Grand Central-42 St, 59 St, 86 St or 125 St. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2, Pelham Bay Park-bound  trains run express from 3 Av-138 St to Parkchester due to track maintenance.  Use a Manhattan-bound  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Parkchester, Hunts Point Av, or 3 Av-138 St.    

From 10 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2,  trains run local in both directions between Broadway Junction and Utica Av due to drain cleaning as part of the Subway Action Plan.   

At all times until Fall 2018  trains skip 163 St-Amsterdam Av in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from structural and safety repairs and improved features, such as a reconfigured mezzanine area including new glass barriers, LED lighting throughout the station for increased light and transparency, waterproofing, new security cameras, and enhanced signage for easier navigation including digital, real-time service change and train and bus arrival information.  For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby 168 St , 155 St , or 157 St  instead.  Use M3, M100 or M101 buses and transfer to the C at 168 St or 155 St with MetroCard.  Need to transfer to another bus?  Ask the M3, M100 or M101 driver for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which is valid on your next local bus ride within two hours.  On your return trip, ask the station agent at 168 St or 155 St for a transfer to the bus.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2, uptown  trains run express from Canal St to 168 St due to structural improvements.  For service to Spring St, 23 St, and 50 St use an uptown  or  to complete your trip via transfer at Canal St, 14 St, or 42 St.  For stations between 59 St-Columbus Circle and 168 St, use a downtown  local or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 168 St, 145 St, 125 St or 59 St-Columbus Circle.  As a reminder,  service does not run overnight.       

From 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 31, to 7 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 1,  trains are suspended in both directions between Howard Beach-JFK and Far Rockaway/Rockaway Park, and  shuttle trains are suspended between Broad Channel and Rockaway Park due to signal maintenance.   service will operate between Inwood-207 St and Lefferts Blvd/Howard Beach-JFK Airport.  Shuttle buses will operate along two routes:

• Non-stop between Far Rockaway and Howard Beach-JFK Airport, then stopping at Beach 25 St, Beach 36 St, Beach 44 St, Beach 60 St, Beach 67 St, Beach 90 St, and Beach 98 St.  
• Between Howard Beach and Rockaway Park, stopping at Broad Channel, Beach 98 St, and Beach 105 St. Transfer between trains and buses at Howard Beach-JFK Airport.   

Beginning 9 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30,  service will end early due station enhancements at 110 St and 145 St. Take the  and/or  instead.  As a reminder,  service does not run on weekends.   

From 9:45 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30, and from 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight, Saturday, Mar. 31 and Sunday, Apr. 1, downtown  trains run express from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Canal St due to track maintenance.  Use a downtown  or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 59 St-Columbus Circle, 42 St/Port Authority, 34 St-Penn Station, or W 4 St-Wash Sq.   

From 9:30 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2,  trains are rerouted via the  line in both directions between 59 St-Columbus Circle and W 4 St-Wash Sq due to track replacement. 

From 9:30 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2,  trains are rerouted via the  line in both directions between W 4 St-Wash Sq and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, and  trains are rerouted via the  line in both directions between W 4 St-Wash Sq and Coney Island-Stillwell Av due to track replacement.   trains will make all  line station stops in both directions between W 4 St-Wash Sq and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.   trains will make all  line station stops between W 4 St-Wash Sq and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.   trains will run express in Brooklyn between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St.  Take the  local or R.  Transfer between  and  trains at W 4 St-Wash Sq or B’way-Lafyette St.

At all times until early 2018, Manhattan-bound  trains skip Avenue U, Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Pkwy and Avenue I due to station renewal work on the Culver Line .  When finished, more than 27,000 daily customers will benefit from repaired staircases, fare control areas, walls, floors, platform girders, new platform windscreens, rubbing boards, tactile warning strips, improved lighting and artwork. 

• For service to these stations, take a Manhattan-bound  train to Kings Hwy or 18 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound .
• For service from these stations, take a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  train to Kings Hwy or Avenue X and transfer to a Manhattan-bound .

At all times until summer 2018, Jamaica Center Parsons/Archer-bound  trains skip 121 St due to station rehabilitation work.  For service to this station, take the  to Sutphin Blvd and transfer to a Broad St-bound .  As a reminder, Broad St-bound  trains skip 121 St from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. on weekdays; take the  instead.  For service from this station, take the  to 111 St and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound . 

At all times until early 2018, Manhattan-bound  trains skip 104 St due to station rehabilitation work.  For service to this station, use the nearby 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd stations instead.  Or, take the Manhattan-bound  to 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound .  For service from this station use the nearby 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd stations instead.  Or, take the Q56 bus and transfer to/from  service at nearby 111 St.

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 31, to 10 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 1, Manhattan-bound  trains skip Flushing Av, Lorimer St, and Hewes St due to track maintenance.  Use a Broadway Junction-bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Delancey-Essex Sts, Marcy Av or Myrtle Av. 

At all times until April 2018,  service is suspended in both directions between Myrtle Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs due to the Myrtle Viaduct Reconstruction project.   service will operate in two sections:

• Between Delancey-Essex St and Myrtle Av, and via the  to/from Broadway Junction, days/evenings.
• Between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.
• Free shuttle buses operate between Myrtle Av (Broadway) and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.

From 6:15 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 31, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 1,  trains skip Flushing Av, Lorimer St, and Hewes St due to track maintenance.  Use a Broadway Junction-bound  or Jamaica Center-bound  to complete your trip.   

Beginning 9 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30,  service will end early between 71 Av and Delancey-Essex Sts due to track replacement and electrical improvements.  Take the  or  instead.  Transfer at Roosevelt Av , 34 St-Herald Sq , W 4 St-Wash Sq , and/or Delancey-Essex Sts .    

At all times until fall 2018, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Av, 18 Av, 20 Av, Kings Hwy, Avenue U and 86 St due to station rehabilitation work at nine stations on the Sea Beach Line.  When finished, this will yield a better travel experience for our customers including the installation of elevators at 8 Av and New Utrecht Av stations, providing our mobility impaired customers with better accessibility, upgraded communication systems, installation of Help Point intercoms, new stairways and handrails, reconstructed platforms and overpasses, repairs to canopies and columns, and artwork.

• For service to these stations, take the Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  to Bay Pkwy or Coney Island-Stillwell Av and transfer to a Manhattan-bound .
• For service from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound  to Bay Pkwy or 8 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound .
• For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the  Transfer between  and  trains at 36 St or Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

At all times until spring 2018,  trains skip 30 Av and 36 Av in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When these projects are completed, customers will benefit from structural and safety repairs and improved features, such as a reconfigured mezzanine area including new glass barriers, LED lighting throughout the station for increased light and transparency, waterproofing, new security cameras, and enhanced signage for easier navigation including digital, real-time service change and train and bus arrival information.  There will also be a new staircase for exiting from the 30 Av Astoria-bound platform to the street-level intersection of 30th Avenue and Newtown Avenue.  For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby open Astoria line stations for  service at Broadway, Astoria Blvd, and 39 Av, or go to the Steinway St or 36 St  stations.  Or, use the following convenient bus route(s):

• Q102 to open Astoria line stations, Queensboro Plaza or Queens Plaza
• Q18 to Northern Blvd .
• Q66 to Steinway St , Northern Blvd , 21 St-Queensbridge , Queensboro Plaza , and Queens Plaza .
• Q69 and Q100 Ltd to 21 St-Queensbridge , Queens Plaza , Queensboro Plaza .

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2,  trains are suspended in both directions between Times Sq-42 St and Astoria-Ditmars Blvd due to track maintenance and switch rehabilitation and station rehab work.   trains will run between Times Sq-42 St and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.  Free shuttle buses operate between Queensboro Plaza and Ditmars Blvd.  For service between Queens and Manhattan, take the  via transfer at Times Sq-42 St and/or Queensboro Plaza.  For service to/from 49 St or 57 St-7 Av, take the .  For service to/from 5Av/59 St and Lexington Av/59 St, use the nearby 59 St  station via transfer with the  at Grand Central-42 St or  at 14 St-Union Sq.   

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 31 to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2,  trains run local in both directions between 57 St-7 Av and Canal St and due to track maintenance and switch rehabilitation.  Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains are rerouted via the Montague St Tunnel from Canal St to DeKalb Av.   

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  and Bay Ridge-bound  trains run express from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 59 St due to electrical improvements.  Use a Manhattan-bound ,  local or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 59 St, 36 St, or Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.

From 5:30 a.m. to 12 midnight Saturday, Mar. 31, and Sunday, Apr. 1,  trains are rerouted via the  line in both directions between 57 St-7 Av and 36 St in Queens due to track maintenance and switch rehabilitation.  For service to Queens Plaza, take the E instead.  Transfer at Times Sq-42 St/Port Authority  or Roosevelt Av .  For service to 5Av/59 St and Lexington Av/59 St, use the nearby Lexington Av/63 St , 5 Av/53 St , or Lexington Av/53 St  stations.

From 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 31 to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 2, the 42 St  Shuttle will operate overnight due to track replacement work on the  line.
