LIRR Adding Three Trains for Montauk’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 26

MTA Police Will Enforce 24-Hour Beverage Ban on All Montauk Trains

The Village of Montauk is once again holding its popular annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, and the LIRR will be there to provide extra train service before and after the parade on Sunday, March 26.

Festivities start at 10 a.m. with the parade set to kick off on Main Street at 11:30 a.m.

To ensure that all LIRR customers arrive safely in Montauk and return home safely later that day, no beverages of any kind will be allowed aboard Montauk trains. The MTA Police will strictly enforce this rule by confiscating all beverages, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, opened or unopened, they find on trains.

The LIRR will operate two extra morning eastbound trains before the parade and one extra westbound afternoon train after the parade.

A full timetable showing all train service to and from the parade, including the special trains, is available at this link:

As noted in the timetable, the first of the special trains will depart Jamaica at 7:10 a.m., stop at Babylon and Bay Shore and then run express to Sayville before making all stops to Montauk, where it will arrive at 9:51 a.m. The second special train will originate at Babylon at 8:56 a.m. and make all stops before arriving at Montauk at 11:11 a.m.

After the parade, a train will depart from Montauk at 1:31 p.m. and make all stops to Babylon, then run express to Jamaica where it will arrive at 4:27 p.m. for connecting trains to Penn Station, Atlantic Terminal, Brooklyn, and intermediate stops in Queens and Brooklyn.

The above communications channels can be accessed while at home or on the go. For customers who are located at stations, the LIRR will post the latest service updates on digital signs at station platforms and will make audio announcements over public address systems, and on-board announcements made by train crews.
