MTA Advises Customers of Bus and Subway Service Changes Ahead of Brooklyn Half Marathon

No Subway Service at Eastern Parkway-Brooklyn Museum Station 

Mass Transit is the Easiest and Most Sustainable Way to Get to the Brooklyn Half Marathon 

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is reminding customers that mass transit is the best way to get to the Brooklyn Half Marathon on Saturday, May 20. There will be some service changes in effect for certain New York City subway and bus lines to accommodate the event. 

New York City Subway 

Between 4:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., there will be no 234 service at the Eastern Parkway-Brooklyn Museum station. Brooklyn-bound 234 trains will operate express from Atlantic Av-Barclays Center to Crown Heights-Utica Av. Manhattan-bound 234 trains will resume service at Eastern Pkwy-Brooklyn Museum at 9:00 a.m.

To reach the Wave 1 starting line from Manhattan, customers can take the Brooklyn-bound 234 to Franklin Av. To reach the Wave 2 starting line from Manhattan, customers can take the Brooklyn-bound 234 to Franklin Av, and transfer to the Manhattan-bound 234 to Grand Army Plaza. Please be advised, the last Manhattan-bound 4 train stopping at Grand Army Plaza departs Franklin Av at 6:15 a.m. 

There will be no f service between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av. 

New York City Buses  

Several local and express bus routes throughout the city will be affected by street closures throughout the day. Customers should visit new.mta.info and check the “Current Service Status” for updates. 

Paratransit 

Access-A-Ride (AAR) customers may experience delays due to street closures. 

For real-time service updates and information, customers can use the following options: 

MYmta app – Customers who use the comprehensive MYmta smartphone app will see real-time travel information for all MTA services all in one place. 

mta.info – The “Service Status” box at new.mta.infois always the definitive source for the latest status for each line. 

Live Subway Map – The Live Subway Map shows the real-time position of trains, planned service changes at any given time, highlights accessible stations, and much more. 

WhatsApp – Customers can chat with NYC Transit via WhatsApp. Riders can receive customer service support in their native language through the help of Google Translate. 

For those who prefer to contact the MTA by telephone, information is available by dialing 511. Connecticut customers should call 877-690-5114. Those who are deaf or hard of hearing can use their preferred service provider for the free 711 relay to reach the MTA at 511.
