IBSF Para-Bobsleigh World Championships Come to Lake Placid March 30 & 31, 2019

LAKE PLACID, N.Y.  (March 08, 2019) --- The excitement of the Para-Bobsleigh World Championships come to the famed Mt. Van Hoevenberg combined bobsled/luge/skeleton track, in Lake Placid, N.Y., March 30-31, 2019. Athletes from around the globe, from nations to include Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States are expected to compete.  

WHAT: IBSF Para-Bobsleigh World Championships. This will mark the first time that this event is being held in the United States. Daily admission is $9 for teens and adults and $7 for juniors and seniors. Admission is free to children six and under.  

WHERE: Mt. Van Hoevenberg Olympic Sports Complex Track, 220 Bobsled Lane, Route 73, Lake Placid, N.Y. 12946

WHO: Athletes from around the globe, Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.

WHEN: Includes Training and Racing Times.

Training Times:

Tuesday, March 26-Friday, March 29 – 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Racing Times:

Saturday, March 30, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Heats 1 & 2

Sunday, March 31, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Heats 3 & 4

Established in 1982, the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) was created by the State of New York to manage the facilities used during the 1980 Olympic Winter Games at Lake Placid. ORDA operates Whiteface, Belleayre and Gore Mountain ski areas; the Olympic Sports Complex at Mt. Van Hoevenberg; the Olympic speed skating oval, Olympic jumping complex and Olympic arena. As host to international and national championships, the Authority has brought millions of athletes, spectator and participants to the region, resulting in significant economic development.
