The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is proposing regulations for the Croton Gorge Unique Area located in the Town of Cortlandt, Westchester County. The purpose of the proposed regulations is to increase public safety and reduce negative impacts to the environmental resources of this Unique Area. The proposed regulations are as follows:
A public informational meeting will be held to provide information about the Croton Gorge Unique Area, the need for the regulations and to get input from the public: When: Wednesday, May 18th at 7:00 PM – 8:45 PM Where: Ossining Public Library - 53 Croton Avenue, Ossining, NY 10562 The public will have the opportunity to provide oral and/or written comments at the public meeting or submit written comments anytime during the formal 45 day public comment period. The public comment period started April 27, 2016 and ends on June 13, 2016. DEC will review and address all comments received during the public comment period. The regulations will become final when they are printed in the New York State Register. DEC will inform the public of the new regulations by providing information on DEC’s website and through other social media. DEC will also post permanent signs throughout the property detailing the regulations.
