SALSA BAND CONJUNTO IMAGEN TO HEADLINE HISPANIC HERITAGE CELEBRATION ON SEPTEMBER 23

Free Event Will Take Place Inside the Empire State Plaza Convention Center

New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner RoAnn Destito today announced the 2017 Hispanic Heritage Celebration, the state’s annual celebration of Latin culture, will feature contemporary, high-energy, live music and dancing, and delicious Latin foods. This free event will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 23 in the Empire State Plaza Convention Center.

“The contributions by Hispanic New Yorkers who help define what makes New York State so great will be celebrated at this year’s Hispanic Heritage Celebration with amazing music, dancing, and food,” Commissioner Destito said. “I want to thank all our generous sponsors for making this event possible.”

Puerto Rican salsa band Conjunto Imagen was founded in 1989 by bandleaders Ernie Acevedo, Luis “Campana” Hernandez, and Junior Rivera. The festival will also feature performances by Joe Veras, Lisette Melendez, and DJ Boy Boy.

Free parking will be available in the Cathedral and Madison Lots on Madison Avenue and in the East Garage on the corners of Madison Avenue, Eagle Street, and Philip Street. Paid parking is also available in the visitor or V lot underneath the Plaza. 

Event attendees are not allowed to bring their own alcoholic beverages, coolers (defined as rigid insulated containers), or glass containers of any kind to the Plaza. Alcohol will be served by vendors to adults with proper identification.
