The Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) invites participation at an upcoming Public Scoping Session. The scoping session will inform the development of a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) to be prepared by the agency in relation to proposed upgrades to the Park Police Training Facility in Rensselaerville, New York. The proposed upgrades, to be detailed in a Facility Plan, are necessary to ensure the training facility meets the needs of the NYS Park Police, OPRHP staff, other state agencies, and law enforcement personnel.

Public scoping enlists public participation in identifying potential issues to be addressed in the DEIS and to develop a concise, accurate, and complete document. Two ‘open house’ style Public Scoping Sessions will be held on Wednesday, March 27th, 2019 in the gymnasium of the Park Police Training Facility, located at 16 Camp Cass Road, Rensselaerville, New York, 12147. The first session will be hosted from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm; the second session from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

In advance of the meeting, a Draft Scoping Document has been prepared and is available on the OPRHP web site at https://parks.ny.gov/inside-our-agency/master-plans.aspx. Physical copies of the Draft Scoping Document are available for viewing at the Rensselaerville Town Hall and the Rensselaerville Public Library.

At these meetings, OPRHP staff will be at stations to provide attendees with information about the Draft Scoping Document, Facility Plan development and alternatives, and the scoping and environmental review process.

OPRHP will record the issues, impacts, and alternatives that attendees propose be addressed in the DEIS for the Facility Plan. Attendees are encouraged to give opinions and comments to OPRHP staff and project consultants in writing. Following the public scoping session and written comment period, OPRHP will prepare and distribute a Final Scoping Document which will guide development of the DEIS.
