SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The New York Lottery today announced the June 16 inaugural drawing of the new Cash4Life multistate game resulted in a total of 79,181 players in New York winning cash prizes ranging from $2 to $2,500. Of that total, 421 players won cash prizes ranging from $100 to $2,500.

Cash4Life sales for the Monday night drawing were over $1.26 million and approximately 50 percent of those sales came in just on Monday. Sales continue to be brisk this week in anticipation of the next drawing for Cash4Life on Thursday, June 19.

The Cash4Life game is an exclusive multistate draw game offering players in New York and New Jersey two chances for lifetime prizes with the purchase of a single $2 ticket. Tickets for the new game went on sale Friday, June 13. The drawings are held on Mondays and Thursdays with the next drawing on June 19.

Gardner Gurney, Acting Director of the Division of the Lottery said, “The “Life” series of scratch-off games have been very popular in New York for 20 years, and now the fun of that prize concept has been introduced to players who like the anticipation associated with lottery draw games.”

The Cash4Life game requires players to select five numbers from one to 60 and a Cash Ball number from one to four. The top prize for matching the first five numbers plus the Cash Ball is $1,000 a Day for Life. The second prize for matching only the first five numbers drawn is $1,000 a Week for Life. Additional cash prizes range from $2 to $2,500. All prizes may be reduced if total payouts at a particular prize level exceed predetermined liability levels. Odds of winning the $1,000 a Day for Life prize are 1:21.8 million. The odds of winning the $1,000 a Week for Life prize are 1:7.28 million. Overall odds are 1:8.

About the New York Lottery

The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing $3.17 billion in fiscal year 2013-2014 to help support education in New York State.  The Lottery’s contribution represents 15 percent of total state education aid to local school districts.

New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education.  It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.
