OGS INTRODUCES SATURDAY FOOD TRUCK PROGRAM THIS WEEKEND AT THE EMPIRE STATE PLAZA ICE RINKFree Carriage Rides & Ice Sculpture Demonstrations at The Plaza This Saturday, December 9 |

New York State Office of General Services Commissioner Jeanette Moy today announced the PDT Catering food truck will start selling hot beverages and meals each Saturday at the Empire State Plaza Ice Rink, beginning December 9. In addition to the new food truck, visitors to the Plaza this Saturday will be treated to free carriage rides by A Time to Remember Carriage and Sleigh Rides from 1 to 4 p.m. and free demonstrations from 5 to 8 p.m. by an ice sculptor from The Ice Farm. The carriage rides and ice sculpture were initially scheduled to take place at the annual Holiday Tree Lighting last week but were rescheduled due to inclement weather. The PDT Catering food truck will be at the Empire State Plaza ice rink from noon to 7 p.m. each Saturday, weather permitting, to keep skaters warm and well fed. Highlights of the menu include the PDT Signature Burger, cheeseburger sliders, chicken tenders, french fries, and poutine. The food truck will also offer hot and cold beverages and a selection of sweet bites such as churro waffles, cookies made from scratch, a winter pear crisp, and jumbo cinnamon buns. Hours: Noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, weather permitting. Closed 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and 2 – 3 p.m. and 5 – 6 p.m. on weekends and holiday breaks for maintenance.
Cost to skate: Free.
Skate Rentals: $5.00. A photo ID is required to rent skates. Every Saturday is Hannaford Free Skate Rental Saturday.
Amenities: Lockers, skate rentals, and refreshments are available in the glass pavilion adjacent to the rink, with the PDT Catering food truck on site each Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. Children’s helmets and ice walkers/trainers for beginning skaters are also available free of charge.
