DEC ANNOUNCES CLOSURE OF HARLEM ROAD FISHING ACCESS FOR SITE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Limited Access in Effect June 9 through September 2025

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced the temporary closure of the fishing access site located at 880 Harlem Road in West Seneca, Erie County. The site is closed to the public from June 9 through September 2025 for an access improvement project.

The project will improve the existing public access facility by enhancing the upland and shoreline areas with a new fishing deck platform, rock, and natural shoreline stabilization, and the installation of a pedestrian walkway and a staircase with railings.

During construction the entire site will be closed to the public until the project is completed. Work at the site is expected to last until September. More information about the improvement project is available on the Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper’s website.

For information about alternative recreation areas, visit DEC’s Find Places to Go webpage.

Fishing Resources

Anglers can use smart phones to find fishing opportunities around the state by accessing the Tackle Box feature in DEC’s HuntFishNY app. The Tackle Box provides one-stop-shopping for information on access sites, stocking, regulations and more. Information on how to download the app can be found on DEC’s website. Anglers are encouraged to check out these valuable resources when planning their next fishing trip.
