Public Statement Hearings Set On PSEG LI Integrated Resource Plan

Integrated Resource Plan Examines System Resiliency, Supply Diversity, Environmental Impact and Cost of Repowering Proposals

ALBANY — The New York State Department of Public Service (Department) today announced that it will hold public statement hearings concerning the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP). The IRP was prepared by PSEG Long Island LLC (PSEG LI), and provided by the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) to the Department on April 24, 2017.

The purpose of the IRP includes forecasting future load and energy use in the LIPA service territory, identifying supply and demand side resources to meet load, and evaluating alternative resources that could deliver reliable energy to customers. The IRP considers many factors among others:  supply diversity, system resiliency, compliance with federal and State regulatory policy, environmental impact and the cost of various repowering proposals.
Public Service Law Section 3-b provides for oversight of LIPA and PSEG LI by the Department to ensure the provision of safe and adequate transmission and distribution services at rates set at the lowest level consistent with sound fiscal operating principles.
