OGS TO HOLD PUBLIC AUCTION FOR FARMSTEAD IN ONEIDA COUNTY

New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner RoAnn M. Destito today announced a sealed-bid public auction for state-owned property located at 5787 Hoag Road in Oneida County in the City of Rome.

Bids will be due to OGS by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, with a bid-opening scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 25 in conference room 125 on the Empire State Plaza concourse level in Albany.

Description of 5787 Hoag Road

The 7.73-acre site includes a:

  • 7,386-square-foot, two-story home, which was built around 1900 and is in poor condition.
  • 9,290-square-foot, two-story, post-and-beam cow barn in good condition with an adjacent concrete stave silo.
  • 3,996-square-foot, two-story storage barn.
  • 228-square-foot, single-story stock garage.

No access to the house will be permitted. Barn inspection is by appointment only and can be made by contacting OGS by email at land.management@ogs.ny.gov or by phone at (518) 474-2195.

Minimum Bid:

$15,000 ($1,500 deposit required to bid)

Terms for the properties:

The properties are being sold “as-is.” Prospective bidders are encouraged to obtain professional advice, prior to the public sale, to ensure compliance with building codes and any planned use of the property. They are also encouraged to contact a financial institution prior to the auction in order to obtain pre-contract credit clearance and borrowing guidelines.

Interested bidders will be required to present an initial deposit in the form of a certified check or bank draft in order to register. Checks should be made payable to the Commissioner of General Services.

A 5 percent broker’s commission will be paid by the State of New York to a qualified real estate broker who represents the successful bidder at the time of the closing. Bidder and broker affidavits must be submitted to OGS Legal Services by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23.
