D3 Men’s Ice Hockey’s Frozen Four in Lake Placid Friday and Saturday

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- SUNY Geneseo freshman forward Arthur Gordon scored a pair of first-period goals that proved to be the difference as the Knights defeated visiting Williams (18-6-2), 2-1, in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Tournament, Saturday, March 19.

Geneseo (20-4-6) advances to play Wisconsin-Stevens Point (22-5-2) in the division III Frozen Four Friday, March 25, at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, N.Y. It’s the Knight’s second national semifinal appearance in the last three years after also making the program's first appearance in 2014.

The Bulldogs make their third consecutive appearance in the semifinals, the 12th time in program history, after defeating top-ranked and host Adrian College (24-3-1) 5-2, behind a 40 save effort from sophomore goaltender Max Milosek.

Elsewhere, senior goalie Billy Faust  posted his second-consecutive NCAA shutout and senior Matt Lemire  and freshman Mike Thomson  each scored, as UMass Boston (23-4-3) blanked Hobart (21-5-2) 2-0 to advance to the program’s first Frozen Four.

The Beacons face St. Norbert in semifinal play Friday night. Junior Pijus Rulevicius scored twice as the Green Knights advanced to their 10th  NCAA Division III Frozen Four in program history with a 6-1 win over Augsburg (17-9-2), Saturday night.

St. Norbert is seeking its fifth national championship and its first since 2014. They’re making their fourth trip to Lake Placid after winning national titles in the Olympic Center in both 2008 and 2012. They were also national runner-up in 2010.
